Celebrate Ostara with these Book of Shadow pages. The pages include facts about the Sabbat, a list of ways to celebrate, and an incantation to recite during your Ostara ritual. The incantation appears in a window so the texture of the spell page behind it shows through. The pages have been covered in rose hips, lavender and colored egg shells. Three out of the four double sided pages have been filled with facts, pictures and herbs. The last page is blank so you can add your own art and words to your Ostara ritual.
The paintings included on the pages are:
Feeding The Rabbits by Heinrich Hirt
Her Favorite by Frederick Beaumont
May Blossom and Hedge-Sparrow’s Nest by William Henry Hunt

Purpose
Ostara is the Second of three spring sabbats. It is a celebration of fertility and the balance between winter and spring and masculine and feminine energy. As the sun passes into Aries it crosses the equator and heads north. Night and day are at equal length, but the daylight is growing stronger and soon the darkness will diminish. During this time ice melts, rivers run, flowers bud, and grass turns green again
The name for this sabbat comes from the German lunar goddess, Eostre. Her chief symbols were bunnies for fertility and because the ancient ones who worshipped her often saw the image of a rabbit in the full moon and eggs because they represent the cosmic egg of creation. This is where the customs of Easter eggs and the Easter bunny originated.
It is also believed that humankind first got the idea of weaving baskets from watching birds weave nests. This is perhaps the origin of the association between colored Easter eggs and Easter baskets. Giving eggs on Ostara was a tradition practiced by the early Egyptians, Persians, Greeks, Romans and Gauls because the egg is the symbol of life and life returns to the earth during this time.
Mounted Pages
These double sided Parchment Paper pages have been mounted onto a three hole punched backing. They are ready to be added to your Adjustable Book of Shadows. I invented them because I wanted scrapbook pages free from plastic sheet protectors. The pages are all 8 ½ by 11 inches. The 3 holes have been punched into an extra ½ inch strip on the side of the page. They make a wonderful crisp sound as you turn the pages. The pages are made of brand new Ivory Parchment Paper but look aged. All mounted page come with frayed edges and are stained with coffee, paint and charcoal. Your Book of Shadows will look like an old family heirloom.
